Mission Statement
The Michigan State Section of the
American Water Resources Association is an organization of professionals and lay persons
which provides a common forum to exchange information and ideas, to promote technological,
social, economic and legislative advances, and to collect and disseminate information an
all aspects of water resources research, management and education through publications,
symposia, and other media. It furthermore serves as a communication vehicle between
members and the public, and promotes cooperation with Federal, State, and local agencies,
private firms and other organizations concerned with water resources.
The Michigan State Section of the
American Water Resources Association believes in the protection, improvement, and wise use
of Michigan's water resources for future generations. The wise use of our water
resources ultimately depends on implementing local-level solutions. These solutions
are developed through multidisciplinary and interdependent partnerships of stakeholders
and are based on up-to-date, objective, quality data and information. The Section
encourages continuing research and education leading to innovative and creative
solutions.
The Michigan State Section of the
American Water Resources Association provides and forum for synergistic discussion and
professional development of people interested in Michigan's water resources. Current
issues are advanced for the protection, improvement, and wise use of water
resources. The Section represents broad, multidisciplinary water interests, and has
a membership which has diverse backgrounds from lay-person to professionals.
